Mark Ellis joined Jacob Laufer P.C. as an associate in 2011. Mr. Ellis’s practice focuses mainly on white-collar criminal defense litigation and investigations, and complex commercial litigation.

Mr. Ellis’s experience encompasses every aspect of preparing a case, beginning with pre-trial investigation and continuing through appeals. Mr. Ellis’s involvement includes motion practice, managing discovery and preparing parties, witnesses and experts for trial. Mr. Ellis also represents clients at trial, pre-trial, hearing, and plea and sentencing phases, in both federal and state trial and appellate courts.

Mr. Ellis began his legal career as an associate at the law firm of Simon & Partners LLP. During his four years there, Mr. Ellis primarily practiced complex commercial litigation, white-collar criminal defense litigation and general criminal law.

While in law school, Mr. Ellis worked as a Student Prosecutor at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York, as well as a Legal Intern at trial bureaus for the Kings County District Attorney's Office and the Queens County District Attorney's Office.

Mr. Ellis graduated from the University of Pennsylvania, cum laude, and Brooklyn Law School.

In his free time, Mr. Ellis serves on the Criminal Law Committee of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York and enjoys volunteering as a Team Leader with New York Cares. Mr. Ellis lives in New York, NY.
